Marxism in “Goblin Market” by Christina Rossetti Essay

How is Marxism introduced as an allegory in Christina Rossetti’s sonnet ‘Goblin Market’? In Goblin Market, Rossetti presents Marxism as an allegory through various characters and through the language utilized. It could be contended that in the sonnet there is this thought industrialism is terrible, and that we are forever discontent with what we have which is basically the hypothesis behind Marxist perspectives. A case of this in the sonnet is that once Laura has had a sample of the natural product she quickly needs more. This is appeared in Laura â€Å"in a missing dream†¦longing for the night†. Laura is simply dying trusting that the night will come so she can hear the trolls cry once more. The utilization of the word ‘longing’ could be utilized as a similitude for the craving and enslavement engaged with shopper utilization in the economy in general. Another route by which Rossetti presents Marxism through allegory is through the trolls. The trolls could speak to representatives and in this way be an allegory for the eagerness and avarices in free enterprise society, who fools individuals into purchasing their items. For instance when it says â€Å"brother to shrewd brother† it seems as though the trolls have recognized a helpless client who they realize they can convince to purchase their produce. Rossetti’s utilization of the word ‘sly’ construes that the trolls are underhanded and beguiling in their exchange of the products, which proposes the avarice related with free enterprise through a Marxist assessment. It could along these lines be contended that, despite the fact that cash is the focal mechanism for business, in ‘Goblin Market’ the genuine worth is in the eagerness and the experience. The brilliant lock of hair given to the trolls could speak to this technique for exchange be tha t as it may. The â€Å"Goblin men† Are an illustration for private enterprise, and the misuse of ladies by these industrialists. The Goblin men need her to purchase their natural product, which could be viewed as a representation for commercialization. Then again, it could likewise be proposed that this illustration is for the industrialist framework all in all. To get this natural product Laura needs to sell her body, and immaculateness, spoke to by the hair that she offers to the troll men. Take a gander at this entry specifically. With the assistance of Marxist analysis we can make the contention that Rossetti was impacted by her contemporary society. As referenced before, each general public must †as indicated by Marxism †go through three phases so as to create. The third phase of society’s improvement, the common society, is a general public where all methods for creation is constrained by one class in the public eye and can along these lines be deciphered as the Victorian culture and its relationship with the British states during this time. The trolls in this sonnet could in this manner be said to speak to the controlling power in the economy. The investigation of the organic products that the troll men sell through a Marxist point of view is a significant piece of the examination of ‘Goblin Market’. While considering the things offered to the two young ladies, certain properties of the natural products are especially fascinating. The organic products are portrayed by the creator as enticing, sweet-tasting and delectable looking. They are additionally intriguing and not the sort of organic products which are developed in the common British atmosphere and nature which presents them as extremely hopeful. These untainted organic products could in this manner be contended to be an allegory for the intrigue of the industrialist system and the introduction of purposeful publicity through customer items †which attracts a corresponding to the way which the organic products are introduced as â€Å"sweeter than honey† and â€Å"clearer than water† which both have implications of normal immaculateness and reasonableness. By utilizing these outlandish natural products as the snare with which to trap the guiltless young ladies, the peruser gets the inclination that the troll men have gone far and wide so as to gather and sell the organic product. The selling and expending of this organic product can accordingly be deciphered as the overcoming and misuse of the British provinces everywhere throughout the world. The structure of ‘Goblin Market’ could be believed to speak to Marxism using enjambment and the visual appearance of the sonnet, because of it being an equitably spread out bit of composing. This is on the grounds that Marxism was the reason for socialism which tends towards decency and even structure in the public arena which is reflected in the structure of the sonnet. For instance, the lengths of the verses are on the whole comparative. Then again, another translation of the structure could be that it fits a perusing of â€Å"Goblin Market† as a Christian moral story of allurement, fall, and recovery, and someâ critics have battled this is the fundamental motivation behind the story. All in all, the Marxist perspective in Christina Rossetti’s sonnet ‘Goblin Market’ is introduced through allegory. These analogies take different shapes in the characters and the structure of the sonnet, just as the utilization of language to suggest the debasement associated with an industrialist cultural structure.

By the assistance of this, the potential and explicit limit alongside the capabilities comparable to the worker as per the present market situation can likewise be assessed (Nguyen Caesar, 2014). The fourth and fifth step involves the appraisal and work reference check. In this procedure, the appraisal of the worker should be possible. With this, the last agenda for the records and other experience declarations can likewise be put. This will help in characterizing the genuine customs before joining. The 6th step is identified with the honor checking. It might help in characterizing the lawbreaker and different records identified with the association. The last advance is identified with conveying of the offer letter to the chose applicants. By the assistance of this last advance, the offers are given to the applicants and the last advance of joining will be finished at first (Anderson, 2015). By following these means, the procedure of enrollment in NAB can be satisfied without any problem. Key Challenges in Recruitment The enrollment is recognized as one of the essential difficulties because of which the association is confronting constant issues and issues. The method of difficulties increments on a wide level too. A portion of the regular difficulties which are being looked by the association are determined beneath: The primary test is the coordination of workers characteristics with the hierarchical arrangements. The desires for the association are persistently changing and the representatives need to organize with their arrangements the correct way. To deal with the harmony, explicit arrangement ought to be overseen effectively. The subsequent test is identified with the promoting and discharging the notice on a wide level. On the off chance that the showcasing for the post isn't right and ads which are discharging are not reasonable, at that point it will end up being an incredible test for an association to choose the correct up-and-comer. In this way, an association needs to think of different sources and procedures also (Stevens, 2017). The following test is identified with the estimation of the exhibition and recognizable proof of results at an underlying level. To oversee both these points of view, the association needs to think of different systems. The representatives viewpoint ought to be examined at an underlying level. The exact reports and system are required for the improvement also. Aside from this, there are likewise some different difficulties because of which the enlistment area of the association endures. These regions are the compensation the board, every day examination of the workers prerequisite and the issues identified with the exhibition and maintenances. Work/Supply Demand The Labor/gracefully request of the association is straightforwardly affected with the procedure of the enrollment. The clear arrangement of works will help in giving the best yield as quickly as time permits. The work request will get increment with the expansion in the customer request. The work request parts of the NAB are recognized as the determined factor in which the customers necessity will legitimately influence standards for the improvement and handling. The all the more opening of the records and improving in exchanging elements will impact the augmentation in improving the works in the synchronous way. In this way, for NAB, it tends to be inferred that an expansion in the interest of product will legitimately impact increase in the works inclusion also (Beeley Davidson, 2013). In NAB, the methodologies are confined by the necessity of the clients. The development of the exchanging perspectives will legitimately help in improving the enrollment method. This will likewise influence for an augmentation during the time spent enlistment and choice. The examination and components show that the Labor request as opposed to NAB is expanding constantly. The administration viewpoints and enrollment cell of the association is additionally watching constant changes identified with the association also. Truth be told, the Labor request that is distinguished in the NAB is additionally expanding the open door for the new comers and monetary master regarding the association. Like the Labor request, flexibly request is likewise considered as the factor for the conversation. The flexibly request additionally increments with the development of different fields in an association. There are different fields like credits, account, showcasing and the advancement and every one of these fields need the works in various structure. The organization helps in mirroring these viewpoints in an all around moved toward design. The addition of the gracefully is additionally considered in two perspectives concerning the association. These perspectives are named as the gracefully of work to industry and flexibly of work to the whole economy. The association basically centers around the principal viewpoint in which the principle spotlight and development is distinguished based on first models, which is determined as the flexibly of work based on industry. The business will help with advancing exchange esteems and with this, the gracefully additionally increments at the same time (ABS, 2012). To put it plainly, an augmentation in the interest and work flexibly can be advanced in an all around engaged and sorted out way. The efficient and moved toward banking administration gave by the association is additionally calculable. The administrations like the NAB private, security, client assistance and essential financial help viewpoints are the significant ones. These administrations likewise help in making the authoritative picture increasingly solid and stable. Because of the best hierarchical picture, greater enlistment will be distinguished on a wide level. The association additionally offers different online types of assistance like diverse sort of adding machines. For this, the labor for the online help will be required. Chemistry class xii project Essay Example for Free

Science class xii venture Essay Hypothesis What is rust? Rust is the basic name of a compound, iron oxide. Iron oxide, the concoction Effie, is normal since iron joins promptly with oxygen so promptly, indeed, that unadulterated Iron Is just once in a while found In nature. Iron (or steel) rusting Is a case of consumption an electrochemical procedure including an anode (a bit of metal that promptly surrenders electrons), an electrolyte (a fluid that enables electrons to move) and a cathode (a bit of metal that promptly acknowledges electrons). Causes When a bit of metal erodes, the electrolyte gives oxygen to the anode. As oxygen joins with the metal, electrons are freed. At the point when they course through the electrolyte to the cathode, the metal of the anode vanishes, cleared away by the electrical stream or changed over into metal activities in a structure, for example, rust. For iron to become Iron oxide, three things are required: Iron, water and oxygen. Heres what happens when the three social gathering: When a drop of water hits an Iron item, two things start to happen very quickly. Initially, the water, a great electrolyte, consolidates with carbon dioxide noticeable all around to frame a feeble carbonic corrosive, a far superior electrolyte. As the corrosive is framed and the iron broke up, a portion of the water will start o separate Into Its part pieces hydrogen and oxygen. The free oxygen and broke down iron bond into iron oxide, in the process liberating electrons. The electrons freed from the anode segment of the iron stream to the cathode, which might be a bit of a metal less electrically receptive than iron, or another point on the bit of Iron Itself, Consequences Rusting has various impacts on metal articles. It makes them look orange and unpleasant. It makes them more fragile, by supplanting the solid Iron or steel with flaky powder. A few oxides on certain metals, for example, aluminum structure Just a slim layer on top which lows down further consumption, however rust can gradually destroy even the greatest bit of iron. On the off chance that a bit of Irons quality Is significant for security, for example, an extension support or a vehicles brake caliper. It Is a smart thought to Inspect It for rust harm from time to time. Rust likewise can cause metal parts that should slide more than each other to get stuck. Rust can make gaps In sheet metal. Corroded vehicle suppressors here and there create gaps in them, and the sheet steel making the external groups of vehicles will frequently rust through, making gaps. Rust Is much less attractive than Iron. An iron magnet will presumably still work nearly as ell when It has a meager covering of rust on It, however If It has rusted so severely that the greater part of the metal is gone, at that point it won't work very well as a magnet. 1 OFF which is a metallic transmitter. So if some electrical association is made with iron, its prone to turn sour when the iron surface rusts. Rust is related with corruption of iron-based devices and structures. As rust has an a lot higher volume than the starting mass of iron, its development can likewise cause disappointment by driving separated neighboring parts ? a marvel here and there known as rust pressing. It was the reason for the breakdown of the Missus waterway connect in 1983, when he direction rusted inside and pushed one corner of the street section off its help. Rust was additionally a significant factor in the Silver Bridge calamity of 1967 in West Virginia, when a steel engineered overpass crumbled in under a moment, killing 46 drivers and travelers on the extension at that point. Counteraction and Protection Because of the broad use and significance of iron and steel items, the avoidance or easing back of rust is the premise of major financial exercises in various particular advances. A short review of techniques is introduced here; for nitty gritty overage, see the cross-referenced articles. Rust is penetrable to air and water, subsequently the inside metallic iron underneath a rust layer keeps on consuming. Rust avoidance in this manner requires coatings that block rust arrangement. A few techniques for counteraction of rusting are as per the following: Gallivanting:- Globalization comprises of an application on the item to be ensured of a layer of metallic zinc by either hot-plunge traipsing or electroplating. Zinc is generally utilized on the grounds that it is modest, clings well to steel, and gives catholic security to the steel surface if there should be an occurrence of harm of the zinc layer. In increasingly destructive conditions, (for example, salt water), cadmium plating is liked. Covering and Painting:- Rust development can be controlled with coatings, for example, paint, finish, or varnish that seclude the iron from nature. Enormous structures with encased box areas, for example, boats and current autos, regularly have a wax-based item (actually a slicing oil) infused into these segments. Such medicines generally additionally contain rust inhibitors. Covering steel with cement can give some insurance to steel as a result of the antacid pH condition at the steel-solid interface. Mugginess Control:- Rust can be stayed away from by controlling the dampness in the climate. A case of this is the utilization of silica gel parcels to control moistness in hardware delivered via ocean. Metal Coupling:- Len this strategy, the iron is combined with other metal and if the metal is above iron in electrochemical series(meaner more electrostatics)then in the galvanic cell is framed by the contact of the iron and that metal, iron will go under decrease it will be protected from rusting. On the off chance that the metal is beneath iron in electrochemical arrangement, at that point iron will go under oxidation and rusting will be encouraged.

love or lust

love or lust recently, i have been having a lot of thoughts about the ways in which finding and committing yourself to work you love is like romantic love and commitment. here are some of them. sometimes for me, this spring and summer were full of striking moments when i made big realizations about myself and i suddenly became more sure of major decisions about the future. they were the moments when i just knew, when my lingering doubts about going to grad school dissipated. there was a moment last semester when i felt this sense of clarity regarding the fact that there was nothing i would rather be doing than economics research. it’s not like that moment came out of nowhere?â€"?i’ve been course 14 since sophomore year, and i’ve liked the classes i’ve taken and books i’ve read enough to stay in the department, but i never felt totally sure about it. i would think about the other things i enjoyed, worry that i was giving up on other dreams, or i would just avoid thinking about the future altogether. but as i came up with ideas for my thesis and thought about professors i might want to work with over that summer, i had more and more moments where i allowed myself to be blown away and thoroughly impressed by the work i was learning about. i had time to appreciate the sheer coolness of the UROP that i had done that year, which i hadnt thought about before because i was so focused on just getting work done. i’m so profoundly grateful that this field of study even exists, that i get to do work where i think about discrimination and machine learning and lagrange multipliers in the same breath, where i get read and write (at various levels of technical-ness) and think about inequality and psychology but also do math and code and think about game theory and optimization. what a rush. this has been one of those weeks when lots of things feel at risk of going terribly wrong and i feel nervous about the future and mit is a minefield of tight deadlines and unexpected obstacles, but even this week, i’m grateful that i get to be here, doing the things i’m doing. sometimes there are those beautiful moments when everything seems to line up perfectly and you know exactly why you you’re doing what you’re doing. it’s like those moments in romantic relationships and even in friendships when you look over at the other person and all the stars align and you understand how and why you are perfect for each other, and you feel a deep sense of gratitude that you’re in each other’s lives. like, sometimes i look at my best friend and feel so happy that she exists. those moments. sometimes, it just feels right, and you just know, and sometimes you remain committed to that cause or job or person for the rest of your life, and sometimes, well, you make it work for as long as you can, but at some point you decide it’s not right anymore, and you end up making a big career change or transferring schools or getting a divorce or breaking up. and it’s scary and uncertain while it’s happening, but then you figure out a new way of living your life that makes you happy, and you get through the terror and can look back on it and smile. for now and hopefully for a long time, for me, it is right. other times but most moments aren’t like that?â€"?most days are just regular days full of work and play and joy and weariness and wakefulness and sleep and all the other tiny ups and downs that fill the hours. most days, i wake up under a cloud of mild anxiety and look at my to-do list and my calendar and try to avoid missing deadlines. most days i also laugh and sigh and see friends and go to classes and meetings and sometimes concerts and other events. last night i went to a poetry reading for a class; last weekend i went to the MFA, danced, worked, panicked. most days are just days. most days, the stars don’t align; they’re just stars. i love my work but sometimes i hate doing my work. sometimes you have to deal with a lot of crap, but you gotta remember that you would rather be dealing with this crap than any other crap from all the other sources of crap in the world. as the semester gets busier and more overwhelming, i try to make sure i remember this every single day. for the most part, everything that makes me busy this semester is something i want to be doing, and im grateful for that. i watched a lot of bojack horseman this summer. season 4 came out last monthits my favorite season of the show yet. marital/relationship strife is one of the central themes of the season, and in the middle of episode 6 there is this beautiful quote about commitment and marriage: Well, all weddings are lies, right? Youre making this big declaration about how youre gonna stay with this person forever, but you dont actually know that. Youre just saying it. The whole thing is a farceBut its a lie based on truth. Like, at the center of the farce theres this nugget of something real and pure. And that strange beautiful something is why you put up with everything else, right? And sometimes its hard to remember that pure, shining thing because its been painted over with so many arguments and compromises and disappointments. But you have to believe its still down there somewhere, even if you cant see it. And maybe even the belief in it is more important than the thing itself, but only as long as you still believe it. i think its kind of like that when youre making any sort of big commitmentthats what my relationship with mit is like, except that im only here for four years, not foreveri love mit for everything it represented before i came here, but some days, it is just so hard, and i have certainly had to repeatedly make compromises in my view of what life here is like. this has been one of those weeks, but i know that every semester i get through these weeks and am impressed with all that i was able to accomplish. (ihtfp) its also what my relationship with my academic loves is likewith math and economics, i understand in principle why i find these fields intriguing and worth spending time on, and some days my work feels fascinating and beautiful. but on equally many days i struggle and bash my head against a (metaphorical!!) wall and concern myself with deadlines and grades and whatever pile of work ive allocated to that day. a song ive been listening to thats vaguely about making compromises and growing older: work life i grew up around academics who are invigorated by their work and center their lives around it. it wasn’t until i came to mit (ironic, since this is campus of workaholics) that i came to understand that it’s also ok to have a job that’s just a job, that isn’t a calling, a job that doesn’t make you loathe the thought of going to work but also isn’t something you would do if money weren’t an issue. this is certainly a campus of workaholics who value their work highly and try to turn their dreams into jobs, but it’s also a campus full of people who juggle lots of other responsibilities and commitments and hobbies without any promise of recognition or reward. in labor economics, we learn about trading consumption (i.e. spending time working to earn wages so that you can consume more goods) for leisure. growing up, i always had the sense that the work was supposed to be the leisure, and it stressed me out when my work didn’t feel fun. i felt a lot of pressure to find my passion, as though doing work i loved and achieving professional success was the only way i was ever going to be happy. and while i’ve been tremendously grateful that there actually does exist work that i love, i also wish that i had realized that i was not going to find my passion by deliberately stressing about it?â€"?and also that i could also be fine and perfectly happy with doing work that did not occupy my entire life. i feel less, i dunno, existential dread about doing work i don’t like now. i remember that i’m a person fulfilling a commitment that happens to be not-fun and that finding my work temporarily unenjoyable doesn’t mean i’m on the wrong track, and even if it turns out that i am on the wrong track, well, i think ill be able to deal with it. ok phoebe, but whats your point there’s this idea that finding your calling involves holding up a mirror and searching deep in yourself for the thing you are passionate about, as though it’s a tiny flame or a shard of glass lodged in your heart or bones or foot or something. it’s like when people talk about searching the world for a soulmate that is everything they think they want, when people (me, tbh) try to plan things, like falling in love with a person or cause or profession, that almost never happen as planned. im relishing the feeling of (finally) really, really liking my work, but i also understand better now that work is not everything, that loving an academic field does not solve my problems any more than romantic love does. How to Gracefully Handle the College Acceptance Letter Season

Many of us have already received responses from our early decision colleges. But the regular decision acceptance letter season is coming in just a few months. Attitudes toward the correct behavior during this time vary. A lot of people don’t believe the admission decisions to be private and decide to tell everyone they know as soon as they find out. But I think it’s best to err on the side of privacy and sensitivity because some can be very heartbroken at a certain rejection. Here are some suggestions for ways we can all be more respectful of our classmates’ feelings. Together, we can make rejection letters a lot less painful. Try to open letters in private Try to be at home when you open your letter. If you really need to be at school, go somewhere private. This is a good decision for a variety of reasons. If you get in, you will probably want to celebrate. You don’t want to cause a big scene with your screams of excitement. Your celebrations could annoy people around you who were recently rejected. If you are rejected, you probably won’t want to be around a lot of people either. You might want to cry or deal with the news in any other way you need to without everyone watching you. Don’t use public school computers When using public computers, it’s easy to accidentally leave a window open or forget to log out of an account. But these accidents can cause extra harm when it comes to checking admission decisions online. Before you know it, the information will have spread all over the student body. That can suck if it was a rejection letter. And don’t be the person who leaves an acceptance letter open on a screen for the world to see. That’s just not classy. Don’t ask if they got in Of course, this suggestion might not apply to best friends. If you are very comfortable with someone, it’s okay to ask them if they got in. But try to avoid this topic in conversations with acquaintances and random classmates. Different people have different opinions about the privacy of this information. You don’t want to put someone in an awkward position if they didn’t get in and don’t want anyone to know. Don’t post acceptances on social media This suggestion is pretty controversial because I’ve seen dozens of these Facebook statuses and Instagram posts in the past few weeks. But being bombarded by happy news can be annoying for those who got rejected or deferred. It’s not going to kill you if you don’t post a status. If you must, wait till May, when all the drama has blown over.

This is because most of his history items are associated with his abnormal behavior which seems to be developing to be more complex as time goes on. His initial abnormal behavior was not as chronic as the current abnormal behavior that has turned disturbing, very complicated which ha s made his parent to take him to a psychiatric hospital for diagnosis. Assigned Diagnosis After a thorough diagnosis of Carl Landau disorder using DSM-V diagnostic criteria, I traced post-traumatic stress disorder to be the source of his emotional and behavioral change. Rationale for diagnosis The disorder was diagnosed using DSM-V diagnostic criteria. After focusing on various presenting symptoms, I applied DSM-V diagnostic criteria and focused on the change of behavior of Carl Landau that according to his clinical history shows that his behavioral change was observed after his classmates had harassed him, (Carson et al, 2000). His symptoms also display emotional disorder as he has even withdrawn himself from people. Application of DSM-V diagnostic criteria involves analysis of patients described behavior that may be related to emotional dysfunctions that are associated with an individual as a result of personal stress especially resulting from harassment. According to DSM-V, individuals suffering from emotional stress those results in behavior change, the cause of emotional stress should be determined as the first step in diagnosis process of the disorder. After tracing the origin of Carl from harassment from his classmate and this opened the way for more diagnosis and analysis of Carl disorder focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder. DSM-V diagnostic criteria further give that as a result of continued memory flashback of such emotional event in the mind of the victim facilitates re-experiencing of such event which triggers victims emotion with high impact, (Goethe et al, 2017). After a short period, the victim starts to experience frequent flashbacks and nightmaresof threatening event. Victims of such events are faced with emotional feelings that make them start withdrawing slowly from other people since they do not trust anybody anymore. Such victims are also are characterized with quick to anger and being chronically over-aroused. Within a period of up to three months, the victim that has emotional feelings develops a trauma as a result of such traumatic event. This is a point when the total behavior of the trauma event victim st arts showing behavioral changes such as isolation, continued fear not only to human beings but also to almost everything that comes across traumatized individuals, (Carson et al, 2000). For instance, analysis of Carl behavioral change was identified after a short time of harassment, and it continued becoming complicated. Has the trauma continues to grow in ones brain more effect of such trauma continues to be observed. For instance, emotional and behavioral change of Carl after it started deteriorating; even parents were in a position to note the change in his behavior and emotional change thus why they took him to a psychiatric hospital. And thus concluding that, Carl disorder diagnosis using DSM-V diagnostic criteria fitted the characteristics of his disorder and the results obtained was effective. Differential diagnoses It is also possible that Carl could also be suffering from the obsessed, compulsive disorder. This is a kind of disorder that many individuals suffer from as a result of obsession thoughts such as aggressive impulses, somatic concern as well as thoughts of contamination. Focusing on Carl change of behavior, we can find that he is obsessed with the fear of contamination of food thats why he coughs and produces hissing sound to determine whether the food has poison. Individuals suffering from obsession are characters with personal withdrawal from other people, and hence they are much conserved with doing their activities, (Carson et al, 2000). They are also associated with compulsions which include thoughts or action that individuals suffering from obsessed, compulsive disorder provide relief to them. For instance, such victims may be concerned with praying and worshiping or excessive washing and cleaning. From the Carl symptoms, initially was taking excessive bathing and showers and t hus he could also be suffering from the obsessed, compulsive disorder. Treatment recommendations Psychological treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder involves making the tarmac victim gradually re-experience the necessary aspects of traumatic events which are effected by supportive context. This ensures that such person has developed essential and effective coping procedures that highly aids in impacting emotional learning which makes the traumatized individual recover from such trauma. For instance, a person who has post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of harassment need to be exposed to such event special in a film context, (Goethe et al, 2017). This will enable him/her to develop alternative or repulsive ability to such traumatic events. Prognosis Individual diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder have the average likelihood to recover from such disorder since it affects their brain. But after they have started the process of recovering using either psychological or clinical; method, there is a high likelihood that they will recover completely from it. References Carson, R. Introduction According to Abnormal Psychology ( 7th edition), PTSD is termed as an anxiety disorder in which fear and associated symptoms continue to be experienced long after the traumatic situation thus the term post-traumatic. The book explains explicitly a vivid horror of what PTSD might be too for the old veterans. Two-thirds of the veterans interviewed describe the atrocities of war such as witnessing their colleagues wounded or dying during battlefield moments. These flashbacks and memories create a feeling of self-blame and guilt which torments them for the better part of their lives. However, it is evident that women are more prone to PTSD symptoms compared to men (Corner, 2010). Nonetheless, they can come forward and seek guidance, unlike men who are afraid to admit they are in need of support as it could be a sign of weakness. When people who have PTSD takes a long period before seeking counseling guidance, they are at more risk of experiencing chronic symptoms that are difficult to treat since the fear, anxiety, and guilt continues to build rapidly into them. However, there is a treatment of PTSD; diagnosis must be given. Debriefing is one of the most sorts out treatment strategy used to treat PTSD. It is a preventative strategy. The main aim of debriefing is counseling people (Corner, 2010). Don’t waste time! A few injuries may put a person at a higher hazard, and natural factors like qualities may make a few people bound to create PTSD than others. What are the side effects of PTSD? Indications more often than not start inside three months of the horrendous occurrence. However some of the time they start later. For indications to be viewed as PTSD, they should last more than a month and be sufficiently serious to meddle with working seeing someone or work. The course of the ailment fluctuates from individual to individual. A few people recoup inside a half year, while others have side effects that last any longer. In a few people, the condition winds up constant (progressing). A specialist who has experience in helping individuals with psychological sicknesses, for example, a specialist or analyst, can analyze PTSD.

The Roman Empire Free Essays The Roman Empire was once one of the biggest and most powerful empires in the lands. Huge military, very cultured, and massive area, the Roman Empire is the symbol of early, ancient civilizations. We will write a custom essay sample on The Roman Empire or any similar topic only for you Order Now But like all powerful and great entities, Rome fell. There were multiple reasons for the fall, economic troubles, the rise of Christianity, and attacks by barbarians. There were other factors of course, but these three things brought the Roman Empire down, starting a new age. Rome had many economic problems that divided the rich and poor. Many emperors debased the currency to supply more coinage, but this had unintended consequences. The coin now only represented gold and silver instead of actual gold and silver. Near the end of the empire, coins meant little to nothing, having little to no silver or gold. Taxes were a big player as well, as Rome had taxed it’s citizens too much. The military and imperial guard were absolutely essential, the empire couldn’t survive without them. The taxes were so much, that people often sold themselves into slavery, saying that being free from taxes was better than personal liberty. Slavery was the last big player. Rome had a slave issue, relying on slave labor too much. But when territorial gain was halted, slaves and other war treasures stopped as well. Christianity is the largest religion in the world. Back in the age of Rome, it was almost just as massive and fast spreading as it is today. This helped pull Rome into decline. The leader of Rome was seen as divine, chosen by the gods to lead. So when another Godly figure took over, which demanded worship to only him and no other gods before him, the emperor suddenly had fewer supporters. Adding the pope and bishops playing a part in political affairs, the government became more and more confusing and leaning away from the emperor. How to cite The Roman Empire, Papers

Governance is the establishment of policies and monitoring how they are implemented in an organization by the members of the governing body in the organization (Matanock, 2014). In economics, it is referrers to as a factor of production that directly affects the performance of a business (Hamel, 2016). As a factor of production, it is the core of every end product in an organization. These factors include workforce, raw materials, and financial materials, all of which are put together by good management. Sociologist terms it as a group of persons. It also demands full protection of all human rights. While the manager focuses on planning, it entails of outlining the course of action in both present and future. It helps in having all activities to take place expectedly. It is always the first stage in every level of management (Rudiski, 2016). Good planning gives precise information on who should perform a specified activity, at what time the action should take place, the process of doing it, very plan developed by managers differs depending on the organization and level of the manager. The governor designs ethics and culture of an organization. They manage the human development through understanding their culture, historical and social life (Grindle, 2016). While in management, the manager is responsible for staffing. Staffing entails workforce determination, hiring of qualified persons, training, deciding on the pay, appraising of their performance systematically. In most cases, staffing is conducted by human resource managers. In governance, accountability of managers is ensured by the board of directors. The board of directors ensures that all managers comply with the system, while in management; the manager ensures that all the staffs undertake their duties as required. The manager checks on the performance of every individual with an aim of ensuring effectiveness and efficiency as a paramount aspect (Roterberg, 2014). All activities direct to a process that meets their need and utilize the available resources. In management, the manager is responsible for the organization of the staff. The manager determines authority and responsibility among employees to come up with a good framework. The responsibility of management thus involve outlining the activities required reaching a specified goal, grouping all the activities departmentally and assigning each department to a leader. While the governance, there is responsiveness among the stakeholders. Responsiveness demands that all services reach to the stakeholders within the stipulated and reasonable timeline. Theories of Management and Governance There are several theories in both Management and governance. For instance, the management contingency theory acknowledges that there is no best way to organize, lead and make decisions in a company (Rundiski, 2016). Both external and internal constraints dictate the best way to lead. The contingency theory contains three variables; the acceptance of the leader by the staff. It states that the manager will have a better influence on the staff when the relationship is good. The theory also dictates the level of job description provides easy and better authority to the management than unstructured one. In governance, the contingency theory acknowledges that power is balanced among the shareholders found in the company. The complexity theory examines on the unknowns and how the organization react and cope up with the uncertainties. The theory improves the organization by dealing with the problems brought about by change while in complexity theory; the governance theory combines both the economic and social roles (Rose, 2014). The structures are placed in a manner that makes the selection of the staffs to count. Conclusion Governance is a structure in different ways relating to the size of the organization and agreement of the shareholders. These different structures offer a different level of governance. In cases of a small organization, the manager always tends to assume the roles of the Board of Directors. In an organization, governance primarily focuses on the determining the objectives of the organization. The governor establishes the vision and mission, policies and guidelines to an organization. In management, the manager is responsible for the organization of the staff. The manager determines authority and responsibility among employees to come up with a good framework. Therefore, this always gives the thin difference in the meaning of both governance and management. Both governance and management are the same systems but different functionality purposes. Otherwise, the sole goal of governance is to offer an oversight and direction to the management. In totality, governance is hard to achieve c ompared to the management. References kerman, J. (2012). On Baroque Essays - Art History, Western Art, Baroque,

On Baroque The Baroque is a style of art that embraces both formal and theatrical themes. It is a style that attempts to capture strong emotions from the viewer. Whether it is the striking contrast of light and dark, the strong diagonals used, or the story being told, Baroque has a way with the viewer where every emotion is heightened and pulled to the fullest. However, although the concept of Baroque pieces are generally similar, in Holland and Italy there are striking dissimilarities due to economical, political, and religious differences. In Holland during the seventeenth century, there was no monarchy or aristocracy. The middle class was started to become very prevalent and started to want pictures and paintings. But it wasnt just the middle class; it was everyoneeveryone right down to lower class social levels. It was almost a way of showing your status, and your ability to buy extraordinary pieces, and your ability to choose. Dutch painters during this time generally focused on images of everyday life. There were no longer paintings of the biblical divinities of life, and there were no longer paintings of mythological creatures. Everyday living and everyday people were now the focus, and these were the paintings that were admired. In seventeenth century Italy, Baroque artists tended to see their work like scientists saw things. The vision of man began to spread outside of the World to larger spaces. The three most prevalent trends in paintings included classicism, where artists followed the hands of Michelangelo, Tission, Rapheal, and all the great artists of the Renaissance; Naturalism, where artists based their pieces on observations of nature and real life; and the last one, where exuberance, drama, and brilliance was emphasized. A good example of a Classicist during this period is Annibale Carraci. Carraci often used mythical and biblical subject matter. But he did not use imitate Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian. He took their influences and emulated them into his own style of idealized nature. However, he also was known well for his landscapes with figures. He painted the land as if you are looking into itnot a birdseye view. Nature is domesticated and non-threatening. This view of nature is best demonstrated in the piece, Landscape with the Flight into Egypt. In this piece the view is not one where viewers are just viewing it, it is a view where viewers feel as if they are a part of the story and a part of time. Viewers also get a sense of realness. Everything in the painting seems as if it still exists and looks exactly the way Carraci has painted it. During the Baroque period, religious divisions of Western Europe began to effect everything during that time. Italy along with other provinces remained Roman Catholic and Holland and its area was entirely Protestant. And along with this came the success absolutism almost everywhere and republics were almost in altogether expired. Nevertheless, Holland was an exception to this termination of republic commonwealth. With this religious and worldly absolutism that existed in Italy was used as a very powerful implement for artists during the seventeenth century. The dramatic and powerful nature of each piece was the main focus and rule. Emotion was heightened to its fullest and everything, including churches, were made to impress all who viewed it. It was truly an emotional theater of elevated sensitivity to ones surroundings. Divine miracles were no longer produced by devout saints but by actual beings of the earth. Gianlorenzo Berninis David is a great example of religious figures that began to develop earthly reflections. The way Bernini captured the exact moment where David is getting ready to kill Goliath makes the viewers feel as if they know him. Viewers get a sense of the anxiety and power of David. We feel his intense concentration on the task at hand. The image of David is brought down to earth. He is no longer idealized like Donatellos and Michelangelos David, he is real man with an unwavering duty. The power and drama of this piece is immediately felt and known. While the dramatic nature of art in the Catholic monarchies flourished in Italy, Protestant artists who lived in Holland were open to the needs of the middle-class buyers of their art. Pieces

Top 10 Business Writing Tips

Top 10 Business Writing Tips Like life itself, writing can sometimes be messy, frustrating, and  hard. But you can make your working life a little easier by  editing  with these principles in mind. Its simple: Whether youre writing a two-line email or a 10-page report, anticipate the needs of your readers and remember the four Cs: Be clear, concise, considerate, and correct. Use these 10 quick tips to learn  how: 1. Adopt the you attitude. This means looking at a topic from the point of view of your readers, emphasizing what they want or need to know. Example: I have requested that your order be sent out today.Revision: You will receive your order by Wednesday. 2. Focus on the real subject. Dont bury a key word by dropping it into a phrase following a weak subject. Example: The implementation of the new marketing campaign will begin on June 1.Revision: The new marketing campaign will begin on June 1. 3. Write actively, not passively. Wherever its appropriate, put your subject up front and make it do something. The active voice generally works better than the passive because its more direct, more concise, and easier to understand. (But not always.) Example: Your proposal was reviewed at our meeting on April 1, and it was immediately submitted to the developers.Revision: We reviewed your proposal on April 1 and immediately submitted it to the developers. 4. Cut unnecessary words and phrases. Wordy expressions may distract readers, so cut the clutter. Example:  I am writing this note because I want to thank you very much for organizing the open house that was held last Thursday.Revision: Thank you very much for organizing last Thursdays open house. 5. But dont leave out key words. To be clear as well as concise, we sometimes need to add a word or two. Example: The storage shed is the first step.Revision: Unlocking the storage shed is the first step. 6. And dont forget your manners. Heres where being considerate comes in. If you say please and thank you when talking with colleagues, include those words in your emails as well. Example: Send me the jargon report before you head home.Revision: Please send me the jargon report before you head home. 7. Avoid outdated expressions. Unless you enjoy sounding stuffy in print, stay away from words and phrases that are never used in conversation- attached herewith, this is to advise you, as per your request. Example: Attached herewith for your reference is a duplicated version of the aforementioned deed.Revision: I have enclosed a copy of the deed. 8. Put a cap on the vogue words and buzzwords. Trendy expressions tend to wear out their welcome fast. Ditto for corporate jargon. Do your best to write like a  human. Example: At the end of the day the bottom line is that we should facilitate opportunities for employees to provide input on best practices.Revision: Lets encourage people to make suggestions. 9. Unstack your modifiers. Stacking means piling up modifiers before a noun- the verbal equivalent of a traffic jam. Long noun strings may save a word or two, but they may also puzzle your readers. Example: Space telescope wide-field planetary camera instrument definition team ground based charged-couple-device camera (from New Scientist, cited by Matthew Lindsay Stevens in Subtleties of Scientific Style, 2007)Revision: Huh? 10. And, of course, proofread. Finally, theres correctness: always make sure you  check your work,  no matter how good you think youve gotten at the other Cs. Example:: When youre in a hurry, its very easy to leave words.Revision: When youre in a hurry, its very easy to leave out words.

Research Parameters for BP, P, R &T Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Parameters for BP, P, R &T - Research Paper Example Discussion of the illnesses that can be identified by measurement of these body parameters will be included. Last but not least, the problems that can be experienced if assessing of these parameters is not performed will be explained in this paper. The body of a human being is made up various organs which keep the body in action and alive by making sure important parameters’ status is right. Just like a mechanical machine used to perform work, the organs have specific functions for the body. Examples of vital organs in a human body include; the brain, heart, liver, kidney and others. These organs are like machines; they need a source of energy, they need constant repair and maintenance for maximum efficiency. They also wear after sometime of continuous action and sometime malfunction. In sort organs are the machines responsible for keeping human bodies alive. This research paper will discuss the importance of checking various parameters of the body that are controlled by organs, and the problems that may affect them if the status of those parameters is unknown. It will concentrate on the blood pressure, body temperature, pulse rate and respiratory rate. Body temperature is the ability of the body to generate heat and get rid of it. It is measured using a thermometer and the units used are Celsius. The normal body temperature of a human is 37 degrees Celsius. Body temperature is measured by placing a thermometer, glass or electronic thermometer, in the rectum, mouth or armpit. The normal temperature of persons is variable depending on several factors: They include age, time of the day and the part of the body where temperature was taken from (Mackowiak, 2009). If the body temperature of a person is more than 1.5 degrees above or below the normal, this condition is known as fever. Assessing body temperatures of persons is vital since it determines whether one is suffering from a fever. This can assist the

Composite case Memo(The Final Installment) Study

Composite Memo(The Final Installment) - Case Study Example The purpose of this memorandum is to correct errors and help Composite Manufacturing Company see the benefits of having an accountant. All figures discussed are in the thousands. Composite Manufacturing Company’s net sales were adjusted from $9,750 to $7,954. The reason for this discrepancy is mainly the mislabeling of revenue. Mr. Little used volume discounts, settlements, grants, and reverse revenue recognition as sales. These items are not sales. The costs of goods sold went from $6,121 to $5,812. The reasons were to reverse the sale to Anjinu, reverse the entry of unsalvageable inventory as COGS, and to reverse the entry that recorded a sale to affiliate. Operating expenses were not changed. Other expenses were changed due to impairment loss regarding unsalvageable RM, losses on leasehold improvements that are no longer useful, switching net sales recognition to recognition of a gain, a loss in the proper period in which it was incurred. This made the amount balance negative. Liabilities and stockholders’ equity were adjusted as well. The adjustments made for Composite Manufacturing Company’s financial statement made the company’s net income of $554 to a negative balance of $592. This was due to the improper classifying of revenue. While the $1,146 does not seem like a significant amount to mislabel, to stockholders the negative balance might cause worries. The corrections give the stockholders a better idea of the position the company is in, financially speaking. If the unadjusted financial report had been given to stockholders, the Composite Manufacturing Company could be sued later on for fraud. Since the company has had a lawsuit over their product, more time might be given to the design. The idea is ingenious and green. However, all of the problems must be dealt with in order for this company to go

A Case Study On Terrorist Database Screening Information Technology Essay

A Case Study On Terrorist Database Screening Information Technology Essay introduction When the FBIs Terrorist Screening Center, or TSC, was created following the 9-11 attacks, the goal was to consolidate information about suspected terrorists from different government agencies into a single list. This was intended to enhance communication and decrease processing times. Subsets of the TSC watch list, such as the No Fly list, were added to reduce the wait for airplane passengers by screening only those who may be prevented from air travel. However, several problems have prompted questions regarding the quality and accuracy of the consolidated list. For a security measure reliant on identification of dangerous individuals, a lack of information regarding the names of suspects is a key issue. Because the list may include duplicated name entries or terrorist aliases, obvious non-terrorists such as former Senator Ted Kennedy have been subject to travel delays because of names that resemble those of suspected terrorists. According to the case study, a single name on the list may have as many as 50 duplicates. This contributes to the over 750,000 records that make up the TSC watch list. A major cause of name similarity or duplication is the process to be included on the list. Various government agencies perform sweeps of traveler information, utilizing misspellings and variations of terrorist names. This often contributes to inclusion of innocent individuals who do not belong on the list. Once an individual is on the list, there is no quick fix to be removed. According to the case study, over 24,000 requests to be removed from the list have been made, including requests from innocent travelers. Only 54 percent have been resolved due to an extensive processing time of 40 days. The Department of Homeland Security developed the Traveler Redress Inquiry Program to help innocents remove themselves from the list and avoid the extensive screening and questioning that results from being a traveler noted on the TSC watch list. Privacy and profiling have also been concerns surrounding the creation and further development of the watch list. To improve the screening process and reduce instances of erroneous inclusion, more detailed and personal data would have to be gathered about individuals on the list. This information may cause sensitivity and safety issues and contribute to existing criticism of the list because of its potential ability to promote discrimination. Some individuals on the list attest that they are marked on the list as suspected terrorists due to their race or ethnicity. However, without including private and sensitive data, the requirements for inclusion on the list will remain minimal and contribute to more false positives. The TSC is working to improve data and data management procedures. Improved communication between intelligence agencies in the future may greatly contribute to advances in the quality and accuracy of the list. But, as of now, the list stands as a major air travel security measure despite its flaws. According to the case study, Given the option between a list that tracks every potential terrorist at the cost of unnecessarily tracking some innocents, and a list that fails to track many terrorists in an effort to avoid tracking innocents, many would choose the list that tracked every terrorist despite the drawbacks. Background A compilation of information from various articles served as the basis for this case study. Journalists from prominent publications internet sites such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CNN.com and Businessweek.com contributed to the creation of this case study through articles they wrote regarding the watch list. These articles, as well as those who wrote them, serve as the case study firm. Analysis The TSC watch list has demonstrated a variety of strengths and weaknesses since its creation in 2003. Benefits of the list include safer air travel for passengers and reduced screening time, but this has come at the cost of inconveniences and cases of mistaken identity for many innocent travelers. Data redundancy and inconsistency have contributed to questioning of the lists accuracy and quality. A minimal lack of data and information has contributed to name duplication and erroneous inclusion of innocent travelers. In order to eliminate these false positives, or cases of mistaken identity, more information regarding each suspected terrorist on the list must be gathered. However, attempts to gather this necessary information have led to outcries of privacy invasion issues which have in turn caused continual delays in data gathering processes. Individuals do not want to be inconvenienced by the accidental inclusion on the list that is the result of lack of information, yet they do not want to compromise private information to ensure that they are not falsely named as a suspected terrorist. In this aspect, it seems as if there is no decent standard for the amount of data to include that is a balance of enough, but not too much, information about a particular individual. Another issue that may contribute to inaccuracy is a lack of communication among government agencies. Non-FBI agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives do not view themselves as contributors to the watch list process, or they may disagree with what the FBI says constitutes terrorist activity. Some Department of Justice offices access information that may be necessary to include on the watch list but neglect to share that information with the FBI. Improved communication and coordination of sensitive and important information would greatly improve the quality and accuracy of the list. The government has made significant improvements through the initial creation of the consolidated watch list, but this could be further improved upon by better management practices and a shared information system. Creating a management team specifically to monitor the watch list and the information supplied by other government agencies would improve the quality of the watch list as well as communication with vital contributors. This group could also ensure that innocents are not falsely included on the list. Combining the gathered data into communal information system would allow all the organizations who utilize the watch list access to important data and would create a watchdog effect as well as increased safety measures. Discussion What concepts in this chapter are illustrated in this case? The concepts from this chapter that the case uses are file organization, and problems with the traditional file format including redundancy and consistency, data management and systems to manage the data, and ensuring data quality. Why was the consolidated terror watch list created? What are the benefits of the list? The consolidated watch list was created to slow down the time of processing names in the computer. A No Fly list was created as a subset of the terrorist watch list to lessen the time passengers are waiting at airports by only screening those who are specifically not allowed to get on a plane. According to the article Director of Terrorist Watch List Says Government Has Technical Capability to Screen all Passengers Against Full List Before They Board Planes, by Fred Lucas of CNSNews.com, the No Fly list contains about 3,400 names, but the computers have the capability to screen the entire list if necessary. The article also states that about 14,000 names on the list are put in to another group that must have extra screening before the board an airplane. The benefits of a smaller list definitely decrease the time to look up names in the system. With over 750,000 names, many of which are actually duplicated, shortening the list makes using it much more efficient. Some also believe that the criteria for getting on the list may be too broad, and that shortening the list to include only the most necessary names to watch for will help decrease the amount of people who are mistaken as terrorists. Describe some of the weaknesses of the watch list. What management, organization, and technology factors are responsible for these weaknesses? One of the main weaknesses of the watch list is the lack of information associated with the names on the list. This problem has led to many people wrongly identified as terrorists, and duplicates of names. The case study said that one name may have up to 50 duplicates. The length of the list is also getting longer and longer, which may make it less effective. The case study explains that the organizations that play a role in developing the list need to have more consistent rules for what information is required to get a name on the watch list and understand what other groups need to know who has been added so that a name is not duplicated. The organizations need to work together by sharing information to decrease these duplicates and make the list more detailed and informative for its users. The government could invest in some sort of ERP system that will update each organization when one name has been added to the list, so that each group can update the name with the known information about that specific terrorist. If you were responsible for the management of the TSC watch list database, what steps would you take to correct some of these weaknesses? The first step I would take to improve the list would be to have more research done on each name that the list includes. One of the main complaints of the list is that people are unsure of how a name gets added and why they are added. If there was a specific group of people whose job was to maintain the list we would be able to have more information show up when a name is found to be on the list to ensure that the person being screened is in fact a terrorist and not a person with a similar name. If this group was formed, they would also be responsible for removing unnecessary names on the list that create false positives for innocent passengers. The case study explained that many of the people who requested their name to get off the list are still waiting and face extra scrutiny every time they try and fly. Keeping these names on the list also increase its size and inefficiency. Lastly I would invest more technology into updating and maintaining the list. I think that this tool will be extremely helpful for airlines and keeping the world safer from terrorist attacks, but it must be easier to use and more reliable to increase its potential. After the Christmas Day Bomber almost successfully detonated a bomb over Detroit while his plane was about to land, it is easy to see that we have a long way to go to protect ourselves from this treat. Do you believe that the watch list represents a significant threat to individuals privacy or Constitutional rights? Why or why not? Currently, I do not believe that this list is threatening to an individuals privacy or Constitutional rights. The list is too broad right now and doesnt include very much information about the suspected terrorists. However, if they decide to do more research when pulling the list together people may feel that the government is being more invasive. Even with this extra research however, I do not think that it violates their Constitutional rights. If people want to be able to fly safely all around the world, they will need to give up some of their privacy to do so. Conclusion The Terrorist Watch List was created to monitor those flying on domestic and international flights after the attacks on America on September 11, 2001. Currently, the list is not very detailed and very long, creating many problems. These problems include duplications of names and false positives causing hassle for passengers who are mistaken as terrorists. The list is also growing rapidly which makes screening for names take longer and longer. The government agencies responsible for the list are also slow at removing false names. While this list is a great start to protect passengers while flying, there are still many advances that will need to be made. The names on the list need to have more details and research corresponding to them, and the agencies working with this list need to work together to cut down on duplicate information. They will also need to work on the length of the list, and sub-lists, to make sure that it is used effectively to prevent terrorist attacks.
